Dear Napa County Officials:

It is an outrageous use of taxpayer resources to unlawfully eliminate the longstanding property rights of Napa’s small wineries and those in existence prior to when the industry was first locally regulated in 1990.  Small wineries are entitled to operate their businesses as they have for decades. These are local institutions that have been making wine and contributing to the Valley for generations.

Nearly one year ago, a judge ruled the County was unlikely to win on the legal merits, and yet the Board of Supervisors have authorized code enforcement and county counsel to continue their campaign of oppression against these lawfully operating small businesses. The County has spent nearly seven figures on policing businesses that are critical to the survival of the Napa economy, and do not have substantial, or any, environmental impacts.

The County seeks to win through economic attrition, and silence small business owners who question their unconstitutional tactics. Instead of legislating changes, they sue small business owners who disagree with their unintelligible regulations.

Stand up for small business and property rights, or Napa County voters will stand up and elect representatives who will.
